How to download your FACEIT demos

FACEIT keeps a demo for every match you play. It is not in your Steam folder — you download it from the match room in your browser.

The manual way

Open FACEIT and go to your match history.
Open the match room of the game you want.
Use the demo download in the room (next to the match details).
Your browser saves a .dem.zst file — Zstandard-compressed, see what that means.

Demos are not kept forever. Older matches may no longer offer a download, so grab the ones you care about while they are there.

Opening it

You do not need to unpack it and you do not need CS2 installed: drop the .dem.zst straight into DemoLens. It is decompressed and parsed in your browser, and the file never leaves your machine. For watching it in the game instead, unpack it first and move the plain .dem into the replays folder.

Skipping the download entirely

The DemoLens browser extension adds a button to the FACEIT match room that hands the demo straight to the viewer, so you never juggle files. The same extension shows map winrates, recent form and roles for all ten players while you are still in the room — no account, no login.

Voice chat

FACEIT demos contain the in-game voice communication. DemoLens plays it back in sync with the 2D replay, which is the fastest way to understand why a round fell apart. Matchmaking demos from Valve servers do not carry voice data.
